FLOATING by Nàbito architects is an exhibition that marks a return to Valle Giulia Faculty of Architecture, Sapienza Università di Roma, where Ale and Bebo, founders of Nábito Architects, first met as students and where the idea of the studio began to take shape. Years later, the exhibition brings their work back to the place where that journey began.
FLOATING translates the design process into space. Every project begins with an explosion of ideas - sketches, words, drawings, intuitions - floating freely like fragments after a big bang. These fragments move, collide, separate and reconnect, gradually taking form without ever becoming fixed. They are used, forgotten and rediscovered, eventually materialising as drawings, projects, construction sites and built spaces. Yet architecture is never truly complete. It remains part of an open and evolving system, continuously shaped by re-lationships, context, time, climate, history and use.
The exhibition gives physical form to this condition through suspended fragments of sketches, drawings and photographs of the creative process placed at different heights and scales, alongside digital projections that contrast the physicality of the drawing with the ephemerality of the digital. Together, they present architecture not as a finished object, but as an indeterminate, evolving process - one that continues to shift, adapt and float even after the designer intervention has ended.
